John and Tricia Christian started
Boquio Iron & Glass in 2000 bringing together the two crafts of hand
forged wrought iron and stained glass, both steeped in centuries of
tradition. This unique team produce a wide range of work in wrought iron
and stained glass to an extremely high standard of craftsmanship. Their
work is strongly influenced by the vibrant and natural Cornish scenery.

Boquio Wrought Iron

Curtain pole finial |
All Boquio
wrought iron work is traditionally hand forged in the fire using
centuries old techniques. John
Christian has successfully completed a traditional blacksmithing
apprenticeship with the Countryside Agency at Hereford College of
Technology, the award being endorsed and presented by the Worshipful
Company of Blacksmiths. |

John working with wrought iron |
As an artist
blacksmith, John can produce anything in iron from hand forging his
own tools to clients' specific commissions.
As well as traditional blacksmith
reproductions, John's wide range of work includes contemporary
wrought iron designs, sculptures and garden art. |

the profession to the public.

Boquio Stained Glass

One of four wall pictures; private
commission |
As a glass artist, Tricia Christian has expanded
the horizons of stained glass by realising glass pieces that, once
conceived, are fused and formed in the kiln to create aesthetic works
of art that are actually four dimensional.
The fourth dimension - transparency.

Cornish Fishing Village |
Tricia's stained glass bowls
and plates, fused and formed in the kiln, are distinctive, stylish and
elegant.
She also has an impressive
range of innovative stained glass panels which can be free standing or
hanging. In these Tricia combines fused glass with complementary
materials including slate, mosaic smalti, water worn pebbles, found
items and seashells from coves and beaches near her home.
She takes commissions for
windows, wall pictures, commemorative panels, plates and bowls and
delights clients by working with them to perfect the designs. |
