"My aim as a maker is to produce work that is easy on the mind and eye in
combination with a readily perceived function."

Jonathan was born and grew
up in the far West of Cornwall and initially studied studio pottery
at the Redruth
School of Art in the early 1970's.
He potted as a hobby until 1990 when he
enrolled as a mature student on the then newly formed Studio Ceramics
degree course at Harrow, now part of the University of Westminster.
He achieved
a very good honours degree and now pots full time at his workshop in St Just, West Penwith, Cornwall. |
 |
|
 |
Most of his work is in stoneware fired to 1,280°C in a reducing
atmosphere, though he does some oxidised stoneware and a little
earthenware. |
|
 |
His output ranges from
large planters to all types of domestic
ware, full dinner services and one-off pieces.
He is very happy to discuss
commissions. |

There is always a warm welcome for visitors to the workshop in St Just,
which Jonathan shares with his partner Karen, the textile artist of Just
Tart.
