Karen Arthur from luxurious recycled and vintage fabrics or handmade
felt, Smart Tart bags are for people who really value quality. |
The bold, vibrant and totally unique textile
accessories she makes are the result of her lifelong love affair with
vintage textiles, unusual buttons, and above all colour.

Karen Arthur studied Fine
art (Printmaking) at Art schools in Wiltshire, Australia and finally
Falmouth here in Cornwall.
She has been sewing since
she was four years old and compulsively making all sorts of things
from fabrics and fibres
"I don’t know a single
textile artist who is not obsessed by their work, so I reckon I am
in excellent company".
Since the spring of 2000
Smart Tart has been located in an enormous old barn in St Just, big
enough to live and to work in.
The building is shaped like a big piece of cheese and provides a
fantastic spacious workshop in the middle of town. There is good
wheelchair access as well as wooden steps! |
